Ryan Succop missed wide right as regulation time expired that would have secured a win for the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers were down 14-0 by the end of the first quarter after another slow start and first quarter turnover. Yet They battled back to cut it to 14-7. Late in the second quarter the Bucs drove to the Raven 2 yard line looking to tie the game at 14. What occurred was one of many game changing plays. OJ Howard squeezes what looks to be a touchdown catch until Yannick Ngakoue put his helmet right on the ball while rookie LB Patrick Queen scooped it right before it hit the ground and returned 101 yards for a pick six heart breaker for the Bucs, Ravens 21-7 at the half.
The Bucs take opening third quarter kickoff an drive for touchdown to make it 21-14. After a stop, the Bucs again drive to tie it at 21.
Another game changing play but this time for the Bucs. Ross Cockrell undercuts a Lamar Jackson pass and returns it 31 yards to the Ravens 14. The very next play Chris Godwin snags his 2nd touchdown of the game, Bucs 28-21 late in the 4th. The game was far from over.
Lamar Jackson rallied the troops for a touchdown score with less than 2 minutes to go, tie game again 28-28.
Tampa Tom with a little over 90 seconds and a time out got Ryan Succop in position to be the hero. Raven’s coach EL Taco smartly freezes him. Succop misses wide right as time expires.
The Buccaneers get the ball first in OT and were driving when Tampa Tom threw his third interception. The Buc D was stout but gave up a key 3rd down conversion that ultimately led to a Justin Tucker 39 yard game winning FG. It looked like Tucker would also miss wide right but he had just enough draw to keep it between the uprights. Ravens 31-28.
Congratulations Coach EL Taco on the win!
