The Bucs turn out the lights in the Linc 31-6 behind 5 interceptions. It brought back memories of Ronde Barber in 2002 shutting down The Vet with a late pick 6 to usher the Bucs into their first Super Bowl. Ronde addressed the young Buc secondary room via a Zoom call this week. The starting cornerbacks, (Carlton Davis III, Jamel Dean, Sean Murphy-Bunting) would have only been 5 or 6 years old in 2002 when Ronde made that game sealing play. The Bucs starters are coming of age and played inspired by Ronde’s visit. All three had picks with SMB getting two and Dean making a Ronde like pick 6 to virtually put the game away.
Coach OG never gave up and continued to ground and pound with Sanders who amassed 108 yards. Jalen Hurts was benched at halftime after throwing 4 picks. Wentz came in and got the lone Eagle TD to Ertz on a beautiful scramble and throw. It was just too little too late.
It was over when Vita Vea showed off his old running back speed bursting through to engulf Wentz on a screen play on 3rd and long. That’s when the fans started heading for the exits and the lights in The Linc Wentz out! The Bucs get the road division win. Good game Coach OG.
