The Autumn Wind silenced the cannons of The Pirate Ship in a battle of the high seas marauders also known as Raiders or Buccaneers. Coach DocZulu executed a game winning drive with no timeouts and less than two minutes that resulted in Nelson Agholor splitting defenders to extend the ball over the goaline for a 28-26 lead with 9 seconds left. The drive included a 4th down conversion and a penalty for calling a timeout with no timeouts left. While the two point try was the right thing to do making it 29-26, it would take a miracle for the Bucs to get in FG range with only 9 seconds.
The Goat, TB12, led a good not great drive capped by a RoJo TD just after the two minute warning to give TB a 26-21 lead. Coach ELBuccs down 21-20 started the drive with a little over 4 minutes to go. First down after first down made the Raiders burn all their timeouts to maintain an opportunity. The Bucs failed to execute the two point try in hopes of a 28-21 lead and had to settle for 26-21. The burden of victory now in the hands of the defense.
The Defense started the game turning back the Raiders opening drive with Mike Edwards tipping a pass to Carlton Davis III for his 5th interception of the season. As fate would have it, two dropped tipped passes on the Raiders final drive ultimately led to the defeat at home. “That’s a tough one! I thought the defense played their tails off today. They did so many good things. We were out there playing chess not checkers. Sometimes the other guy makes a move you didn’t have a counter for.” Coach ELBuccs
Great game Coach DocZulu! Another Instant Classic for the ages.
